When I was diagnosed with cancer, I quickly began to have tests and treatments designed to ‘fix my body’. But my emotions were completely ignored. It wasn’t until much later that I started to really address this.
Now I believe that supporting your emotional health is critical, especially during the initial shock of the diagnosis. There are many ways to do this, some of which I will share here soon, including practicing gratitude, forgiving yourself and others, accessing support groups, journaling and counselling.
