I do think it is important to honour emotions, whatever they are, when they come up. But I also believe that there is always something to be grateful for. Every single day. I also believe that when I am grateful for the things that I already have, I notice more positive things in my life and it also encourages more of those things into my life.

Every night, before I go to sleep, in my mind, I go through everything that I am grateful for in that day. They are often small things, but I feel genuinely grateful. Here are some examples . . . I am grateful that:
- I was able to have a nice soak in the bath and dunk my head under water – bliss!
- I was well enough to take the dog for a walk – which we both really enjoyed
- I had a lovely hug from my husband
- I have a cosy, clean, warm bed to sleep in
I am currently thinking about starting a gratitude journal where I write these down at night before bed.
